This day personally appeared before the subscriber J W
Morris a Justice of the Peace, James A. Lowry and made oath that he
was in the employment of the Confederate States under Capt Thos R.
Sharp AQM direction removing Balto & Ohio Railroad Engines and
Materials and to the best of his Knowledge and belief Four impressed
Horses died viz: Two on Winchester & Bath road hauling supplies
to General Jacksons army in January 1862; and Two died on Valley
Turnpike near North River about the 1st April 1862 in the
performance of the above service and owing to their condition from
hard labor their ownership could not be identified.
