Public Stores are frequently delayed here for want of
Transportation. On the 30th Ultimo, I made application for
transportation for Commissary Stores which are at this point awaiting
shipment but have been unable to get them off. To day a train arrived
here from Wilmington with instructions from Capt Drane (the Supt of
the W & M RR {Wilmington & Manchester
RR}) to give private freight the preference; and
hence freight, which have been here for ten or twelve days remain
unshipped.
