Maj, |
This morning Mr. Gentry called on me for
the report of the Supt of T. & N. O. Rail Road {Texas
& New Orleans RR}, on the condition of his road. This
report was made to me by the instructions of the Maj Gen Comdg and I
therefore declined to allow it to be taken from my office. Should you
desire it, I will make a report on the condition of this road ???
force to you. I have in obedience to orders from the Maj Gen
Comdg taken charge of the repairs of this road. |
Until the road over the Neches swamp shall
be repaired, there will be no continuity of transportation from the
Sabine river. It is with the greatest difficulty that the Steam Boat
from Nibletts Bluff to Orange can be got pass the obstructions on the
Sabine and S Neches bars and having passed these there is then 20
miles of road without "ties" to support the iron. |
