| You directed a few days since the
nomination of George E. Walker of S. C. for a Captaincy of Provisional
Engineers on the very strong recommendation of Capt. J. C. Ives Eng
Corps C. S. A. In some unaccountable way this paper has disappeared. I
was under the impression that the commission was ready to be issued
but on enquiry find that there is no recon of the paper in the
Adjutant & Inspector General's office. |

endorse a nomination for him to take rank from the 1st of June 1862. |
