I have the honor to enclose an order from Genl S D Lee
assigning me the duty of Chief Quartermaster of this Department and
I also enclose a letter from Major Peters who wishes to resign the
position of Chief Q. M. and has been kind enough to recommend that I
be appointed to replace him. |

I would now respectfully state that I have been doing the
duties of Chief Q M for this Dept since last winter and as I appear
to be the choice of the General Commanding I respectfully solicit
your approval of this appointment that I may know my true position
and report directly to you. |
