General, |
The Superintendent of the Virginia Central
Rail Road desires the detail of P. H. B{rest of
name lost in tear} and William Hall to
work on his road and in order not to reduce the ranks of the companies
to which these men belong, he reports the names of four conscripts not
enrolled. The companies will thus be better off than before in point
of numbers. It is of the very first importance to keep the Central
road in effective condition and this can only be done by giving it
efficient men. |
The names of the conscripts are as follows: |
Joseph Bailey, a workman on the road just west of
Staunton, Charles Terrill, hired on, J N Wickham hand |
--- Finley, son of Fred Stanley decd, his mother lives
one mile above Waltons, formerly called Montpelier, on road from
Gordonsville to Louisa. |
--- Wickham, son of John H Wickham, by Miss Keney,
lives on same road near Shelbuons. |
I remain, General, |
Very respectfully
|
Your obdt servant
