I have the honor to apply for a Captaincy in the new
corps of Engineer troops.

| I have been in the service of the
Government nearly twelve months. Early in April 1862 I was appointed by the Hon G. W. Randolph Engineer and Agent for the Ala & Miss
Rivers Rail Road and for the last three months have been acting as
Assistant Engineer in this department. |
