Dear Major, |
I see that the bill for the appointment of six Military
Store Keepers has been introduced and I beg to remind you of the
application of my friend D. G. Purse, whose certificate of
disability for field service is with you. He is a member of the
Company I once commanded and received his injury while in service.
He is a most worthy and excellent young man and has discharged the
duties of Military Store Keeper at Savh for about two years and wit
signal ability and success a is testified in the recommendations
(which you also have) of Genl. Mercer, Lieuts Cunningham, Hardin &
others in your bureau. |
His appointment is deserved fully and I will esteem it a
personal favor if you should look favorably upon his application. |
Very truly |
F. W. Sims |

Respectfully referred to Co Rives Chf of Bureau of Engineers
concurring with Major Sims in this recommendation. There are other
testimonials of recommendations in my office in favor of Mr. Purse
showing his high character & qualifications. |
It was expected that Congress would authorize appointment
of additional Mil Store Keepers for Ord Dept. & Mr Purse' papers
were filed with the view of recommending him for such appointment. |
