Dear Sir, |
Hearing from your friends that you design
making application for permanent appointment as chief of transportation
at this place, I desire to add my testimonial to your fitness for the
office. From the commencement of the war, until now I have been brought
into almost daily contact with you, and now that I am retiring from my
office, I desire to say that your close and unremitting attention to the
duties of your office, your uniform gentlemanly deportment, and
courteous manners to all who are brought in contact with you
eminently gratify you, in my opinion, for this office, or I may say, for
any official position of the kind. The sick and wounded soldiers leaving
this city, have never been detained one hour, and all orders for
transportation have been promptly and courteously complied with by you,
and while saying this, officially, permit me to return your very thanks
individually, for all your many kindnesses, in which, I am sure I am
joined by thousands. |
Very Respy |
