| Dear Sir, |
| It is probably that Civil Engineers can
be usefully employed with the armies in topographic reconnaissance
& earth batteries, &c. The gentleman whose services are
tendered in the written letter {J. M.
Fairbanks} is capable of usefulness. Rank or pay is of no
consequence. He wishes to be employed in this time in aid of the
cause. He is a native of New York, but with his brothers, who are
prominent citizens of the State, as identified by long residence
& interests with our section. |
| Respectfy Yours |
| D. L. Yulee |
