My Dear Sir, |
I write you to ask a personal favor in
behalf of a particular friend. |
Major J. C. Berry has, for the last two
years, held the position of Transportation Agent in this city, with the
rank of Major. He has discharged the arduous and responsible duties of
the position with an energy and fidelity that have commanded universal
admiration, while his uniform affability and kindness to all who have
had intercourse with him have created for him the warmest personal
regards. It is now understood that changes are contemplated in the
Department which will open the way for his promotion. In anticipation of
such a contingency I beg to ask for your kind offices in his behalf, and
I assure you that in my opinion, you will thereby greatly benefit the
public service and place under many obligations. |
Your Friend and |
Obedient Servt. |
