| Your favor of 18th is before me and
contents carefully noted. The case of impressment referred to is one
over which I have no control and could not have awarded. I am most
anxious to prevent impressment and where I can interpose on the matter will
not prevent it save in the most urgent necessity. If the Cars are
eventually lost you can render your claim against the Government
through me when it will have my immediate attention for settlement. |
