You will upon arriving at Augusta, notify
all the railroads in Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia (except the
Muscogee Railroad) and the Wilmington & Manchester Railroad
Company, to present their accounts to you to be audited and paid. The
charges you are authorized to pay were established by the convention
held at Columbia Apl 13/64 and all accounts presented in accordance
with these you will pay without further instructions. Should accounts
be made at any higher rates you will exact from the Company presenting
them the authority for the increase. |
You will present the same system of
communication and auditing now established in the office at Richmond
and use your best efforts to correct such irregularities as you see occurring, whether by the negligence, or willfulness of officers. |
