Dear Sir, |
Enclosed is a letter from Mr Rice {Superintendent,
Manassas Gap RR} on which
I would like your opinion. He wants higher rates, but I am not
disposed to touch the question until you have had a trial of the road
and can give me some idea of what you think of the matter. It might be
good policy to pay the road by the Richmond tariff, and call it 100
miles. Foreign trains ought to be satisfied with the present tariff,
so long as the road is. Let me hear from you on this subject. |
The "No. 3" {former
Manassas Gap RR locomotive} will be ready by the
middle of February, and will be in splendid order. The
"Culpeper" is here and ought to be hauled to Danville Depot
Tuesday. She really ought to have been on the way now but Mr. Talcott
first refused to take her. |
Enclosed is a dispatch which please make
me a report upon. I had hoped that these complaints would cease. |
Let me hear from you as soon as
convenient. |
Very respy |
