Sir, |
I am directed by the Quartermaster General
to enquire of you what action was taken in response to the following
telegram: |
"Richmond Dec 5/64 to R R Cuyler President CRR
Savannah. In view of the present moves of the enemy all the rolling
stock at Savannah not absolutely necessary to the work of the limited
extent of road now available on the Central and Gulf rail roads should
be removed at once by Charleston to Columbia. Please show this to the
military commanding if necessary." |

information as to the quantity of engines, cars & machinery lost
and whether you received proper intelligence or aid from the military
authorities. |
