Dear Sir, |
Your recent favor of 23d enclosing note from Mr Reel in
relation to the settlement of his accounts come daily to
hand, in reply I have to inform you that I called on Major M Smith the
Auditor, who informs me that he was in correspondence with Mr. Rice relative to a power of attorney necessary
from the President or Treasurer
to the party empowered to settle the accounts of the road here. In one of
Mr Rice's letters he informed Major Smith that the President was
without the country's lines but said nothing of the whereabouts of the Treasurer Mr
Morgan,
who has been in the habit of receipting the accounts and whose power of
attorney to settle the claims against the Govt. Major Smith further informs
me that all of Mr Reid's a/c audited to the 31st October have been
settled;
there will be no difficulty in arranging a further settlement with
power
from Mr Morgan. |
I observe with much satisfaction the
improvement on the "PR" and have to thank you and your kind attention
& promptness in forwarding the various ??? of transportation performed. |
Very respectfully |
Your obdt Sevt |
