Sir, |
On the 15th of May last at the
requisition of the Government a Special daily train of Ambulance &
Passenger Coaches commenced running over this Railroad for the
transportation of Sick & Wounded Soldiers & continued to be
run until the 27th of the same month inclusive. At the time of commencing
this service it was agreed between you & this Company, that the
compensation for it should be the same, which had been theretofore for
sometime paid to the Va Central Railroad Company for the same service,
viz $0.50 per mile and by cash at a rate which experience proved to be
full ??? But Major E. M. Sodyth, the auditing officer for R Rd
transportation has no records of this agreement and requires a written
authority from you for paying the Acct. If you previously gave such a
statement it has been mislaid & I therefore ask favor of you now
to give it that the Acct might be paid. |
Very Respectfully |
Your obt Servt |
P. V. Daniel Jr President |
