Dear Sir, |
The President of the Richmond & Danville
Railroad sent me a Bill of Timbers of one hundred thousand feet to
be sawed immediately to build some cars on the said road. I went to
see him about it and he said the timbers couldnt be had no where
else in reach of the road. He said it was a military necessity and I
was bound to furnish the lumber or he would impress my mill. he said
also that the Secretary of War told him that the Richmond & Danville
road was to haul Provisions to feed the army of Richmond, Petersburg
and Lynchburg and he would give authority to impress mills teams or
anything else that was necessary to keep up the road. I should like
to see you to no what best to do if there sent some way we could
keep them from impressing my mill I never was so vexed about
anything in my life If you no of any thing that I can do let me hear
from you. |
Yours Trully |
