Governor of Louisiana |
|
Sir, |
The letter of your A. D. C. -- Colonel
Mauy, to President Davis on the subject of contributions of clothing
and Hospital Stores for the Louisiana Volunteers and expressing the
desire to get them promptly to their destination, has been referred to
this Department. I have the honor to inform you that I have arranged
with the President of the Jackson Rail Road {New
Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern RR}, now in this City,
for the prompt transportation of stores of this character, to their
address. From accident on the Virginia {Central}
R. Road, and some disaffection on the part of a R. Road
Superintendent named Temple, many stores have been accumulated at
Knoxville and Bristol. No doubt the blankets are among them. |
