In your communication of the 31st ultimo,
you ask for a special grant of impressment to enable you to organize a
wagon train if the Weldon & Petersburg R. Rd. {the
Petersburg RR} should be at any time disabled or occupied by a
force of the enemy. In reply I enclose the necessary authority. The
phrase "Army Supplies" includes "Labor and
Transportation" which you are authorized to impress should the
exigencies of the public service render it necessary. |
