Sir, |
I am informed that trains of
cars loaded with private freights pass through Greensboro for
Danville, while Govt. freight is accumulating with you for want of
transportation. Our necessities are such that this can no longer be
permitted; & under the authority given to this Bureau by the Sect.
of War you are instructed that in future, no private freight must be
permitted to pass whilst Government Stores are awaiting
transportation. You will seize any cars loaded with private freight,
& use them for transporting the public stores, until all
accumulation is removed. The private freight will be permitted to come
on as soon as the Govt. wants are supplied. |
