Your action in seizing, at
Danville, a train owned by the Norfolk & Petersburg R. R. &
hired by Mess. Thos. Branch & Sons of Petersburg (which train
after seizure was loaded with Govt. stores) is fully approved by this
Bureau; such impressment being at the time a military necessity &
in accordance with your instructions from the War Dept. |
And whenever in your judgment
it may become necessary for the prompt transportation of needed
supplies, you are authorized to impress any engines, cars or trains
available for the purpose in all cases reporting promptly to this
office your action in the case. |
