Sir, |
I have received a complaint from Mr Scott President of
the Macon & Western Rail Road Co, about the delay in the settlement of
the transportation account of that route. He represents the necessities
of the road to be so urgent that it will probably be brought to a stand
unless it should receive, at an early day, what is due it. You were
instructed to audit and settle this account and Mr Scott states that you
are now unable to pay what you have adjusted for want of funds. This I
do not understand, as the Treasurer states that he remitted you the 30th
of June the sum of $110,000 and on the 27th June wrote to you inquiring
whether he should remit you Bonds, to which he received no reply and
further that there is now to your credit in the Treasury the sum of
$190,000. |
