It is a matter of importance
to this Dept that all the raw Cotton for the Mills here in Govt employ
should be brought forward as promptly as possible provided that the
transportation of Army supplies be not interfered with. The Manchester
Cotton & Work Manufacturing Company report that they have some
hundred & fifty bales in Charlotte. The Q. M. General wishes that
you give them all possible facilities as above for bringing this
Cotton to Richmond, they of course paying all expenses, in the rates
for private freight. |
