Major, |
In order that entire consistency may be
preserved in the instructions, and decisions of all questions which
may arise upon the adjustment of the accounts of the Rail Road
Companies for the transportation of freight and passengers, under
their contracts with the Government, all letters and communications to
this bureau upon that subject, will be referred to you for
examination, and the preparation of the necessary replies, and
instructions. |
You will find it necessary to ascertain,
without delay, the points where the accounts of the several Rail Road
Companies are settled, and the names of the officers charged with the
duty of auditing them. This information when obtained, you will
transmit to this office. |
You are instructed to report to Major
Sims, Quarter Master, in charge of Rail Road Bureau, a copy of this
order, for his information. |
