Sir, |
I have been for some time under the
impression that all the Virginia Rail road Companies advertised that
they would transport free of charge the sick and wounded soldiers,
also the bodies of those killed. If I am mistaken on this point I
should like to receive a copy of the printed notice that was inserted
in the papers some ten days back. |
With respect to the prisoners transported
over the road there can hardly be difficulty as they have all been
sent to this point and the number can readily be ascertained to verify
the account of the company if it is kept under a separate head,
otherwise the certificate of the agent to whom you allude as being in
charge of the wounded will be accepted alone. |
