| A claim will be presented to you by Mr C. V. Carrington
for compensation as Transportation Agent &c. You are authorized to pay
him from September 3d 1861 up to the time at which Colonel J. B. E.
Sloan entered on duty at Columbia at the rate of $50 a month. I desire
to be informed why Colonel Sloan did not perform all the duties of
transportation Agent, from the date of his appointment. |
