Sir, |
Your letter of the 23rd May last,
addressed to the Hon. Secretary of War, has this day been referred to
this office for answer. |
In regard to the troops and supplies which
have passed over your road, prior to this date, and for which you have
omitted to obtain certificates from the officer in command, it would
be better for you to make out your account, stating as accurately as
possible the name of each regiment, company or command, the number of
rank and file in each, and giving the name of the officer in command.
Where supplies such as camp & garrison equipage have been
transported, the weight of the same, and the name of the regiment or
company to which they belonged should be stated. To these facts so far
as you can state them, an affidavit should be made and attached to
your accounts which you will forward to this office, for submission to
the accounting officers of the Treasury for settlement. |
I send you the usual form which has been
adopted by other rail roads, which you had better have printed &
use. |
A. C. Myers, A. Q. M. General. |
