| I have received your letter of the 27th
instant and in answer have to inform you that upon inquiry at the
Treasury Dept. I am informed that a remittance was made on the 25th of
July in Bonds of the Confederate States to Captain S. D. Lee, to pay
the amount due to the Wilmington & Weldon R. Road Company, and
that the Bonds were as follows: 50 of $1000, 16 of $500, and 2 of
$100, leaving a balance to be otherwise arranged. |
