Say to General Beauregard that the
President desires him to give orders to the telegraph operator at
Manassas to give priority in all cases to the transmission of
dispatches having reference to the movement of trains to and from
Manassas, except where it is absolutely necessary for the General to
communicate with Head Quarters here. A collision on the roads might paralyze
for a time the most important movements. It has been reported that
private dispatches have interfered with the transmission of Public
ones. |
