I acknowledge, with pleasure, the receipt
of your letter of July 16th inst. informing me of the detention of gun
carriages and ammunition on the W. & W. R. Road {Wilmington
& Weldon RR}. I expect that Mr. Freemont will see that the
articles are forwarded after your report to him. Colonel W. S. Ashe is
here and will give his attention to all such irregularities in future
on all the Railroad routes coming to Richmond from the South. |
