Mr. P. V. Daniel |
President &c {Richmond, Fredericksburg &
Potomac RR} |
|
Sir, |
I have received your letter of the 9th instant covering
a copy of a letter from you to the Hon. Mr Memminger, having reference
to the terms on which the Railroads in Virginia propose to furnish army
transportation for the Confederate States, and the kind of Funds in
which your road shall be paid. In reply I beg to state that the report
of the Virginia R. R. Convention was duly received by me. |
I regret to observe that there is so great
a difference in the action of the Virginia Convention and that of the
other states of the Confederacy held on the same subject in Montgomery,
without going into a comparison of the relative charges established by
the Conventions referred to. |
However, I hope, that the proceedings of
your Convention will be modified at a future day at which time the
subject of our correspondence may be considered. |
