Sir, |
I have your letter of the 14th instant.
Your report that no delay occurs through the Q. M. Dept. at Staunton
in the movement of Rail road trains is satisfactory. We know now where
the censure on account of detention is to rest. Give no orders to Rail
road officials that Conflict with the running of the Trains. |
You are authorized to furnish
Transportation whenever it is required; get it in the cheapest way you
can, by hire or purchase. |
The Government desire all payments for
property purchased to be made for the present in Confederate Bonds.
Endeavor to do this. Purchase the fifty horses you refer to as being
required for transportation. |
