Since the receipt of your fist letter in
regard to the property abandoned by the Enemy, I must state that one
hundred wagon loads thereof have been brought from the Pamunky. The
trains which left there Thursday night, was hurried off by the officer
commanding at that point, in consequence of the reported approach of
the enemy. |
In response to your suggestion received
today, I have sent a train, in charge of Capt Crump A Q Master, to the
White House, which will bring off all the property which can be
secured, with the assistance and participation of the 4th Va. Cavalry. |
