Sir, |
In accordance with the suggestion made by you, Capt.
Langdon at Weldon has been instructed to draw from Maj. Cameron at
Wilmington, such supplies of shoes and clothing material as will enable
him to respond to your calls. |
He has been told that you will instruct him when & in
what quantities to forward the same. There are shoes in abundance at
Wilmington & a few say three thousand suits of ready made clothing.
Understanding that your other great want was Pants, 10,000 prs now ready
for delivery have been ordered to Weldon from Raleigh & some 11,000 prs
ordered some time back from the Depots at Columbus & Atlanta Geo &
stored at Charlotte N. C. in consequence of the break in Rail
Road, will also come forward. |
The clothing establishment here has but two days
working material on hand in the way of woolen goods. Please do what you
can to get some through. Capt De Ponte informed me that you said you
would be able to forward about fifteen wagon loads a week. This will be
enough. |
