Sir, |
In your letter of the 30th ult you report that the bags
of forage sent by you to various officers fell short, when delivered, of
your invoices, and you desire to know how the deficiency is to be
accounted for, as the officers to whom you issue receipts only for the
number of bags received by them. |
You hold the receipts of the Rail Road
Company for the number you send, which fixes the responsibility of the
Company; and it should be that it is relieved by the delivery of a
corresponding number of bags to the officer to whom the forage is
consigned. If this is not done and a deficiency occurs you can report
the fact to this office and the value of the forage lost will be charged
against the Transportation Account of the Company. This will insure to
your relief. |
