Sir, |
You will proceed without delay to Wilmington, North
Carolina and Charleston, South Carolina, and report to Chief Quarter
Master at those places, Majors Cameron and Lee, for the purpose of
ascertaining if any freights from Nassau or Bermuda have arrived at
either of those ports for the Confederate States. |
Should you discover that the expected freights have
arrived you will make arrangements to have such as belong to this
Department promptly forwarded to this place, and see that they are sent
on without delay. |
You will report in detail the quantity of stores for
each Department of the Government you may find, and remain on the duty
assigned you until regularly relieved. |
Inform me of your address as you may move from place to
place. |
