The Ticket Agent of the WWRR {Wilmington
& Weldon RR} at Wilmington represents that furloughed
soldiers, entitled to transportation, are compelled to purchase
tickets, or be subject to delay, because the Quarter Master, whose
duty it is to furnish transportation, does not open or keep open his
office at hours to correspond with the departure of the trains. |
I have to direct that you investigate this
subject, and have the office opened at such hours as will enable
soldiers leaving on the cars, to procure transportation. |
