| Sir, |
| Yours of the 25th inst. urging the payment
of amount due for freights &c. has been received & I am instructed by
the Qr. Mr. Genl. to reply that he fully appreciates your needs & will
make urgent efforts to have your supplies as soon as possible. But from
various causes, the Treasury seems utterly unable to meet the demands
upon it & now most pressing calls meet with the response "no funds." We
hope however that matters may improve soon, when your necessities will
meet with attention. |
