Your letter of the 30th ultimo has been received. |
The Commissary General declines to accede to the
proposition you made to exchange flour for corn at Charlotte. I suggest
that you obtain supplies from Georgia, through Major F. W. Dillard, at
Columbus, Georgia. |
If you will state specifically where the 300,000
bushels of corn {2,000 car loads} referred
to as being shipped for the army in Western Virginia is. I will order a
portion of it to be divested for the army of Northern Virginia. I have
no idea, however, that such a quantity has been purchased or is being
shipped for that command. |
