Mr. Thomas R. Sharp is hereby empowered on
behalf of the Confederate States to remove the Cars and Engines that
belonged to the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road that have been
transferred to the Harpers Ferry and Winchester {Winchester
& Potomac} R. Road from Winchester to Strasburg. |
Mr. Sharp will procure the necessary
appliances to enable him to perform the duties entrusted to him which
it is expected he will conduct with strict economy. Enclosed is memo.
of the means required for the above work. |

I think you can move the Engines and
tenders specified, at least two at a time, with the following force,
viz: 60 oxen, 10 wagons and 50 men including Carpenters for
strengthening bridges etc, this number you can employ and also
purchase such chains, ropes and blocks as may be necessary should you
be unable to move at any difficult point with the above force. |
