Major,
The iron and other rail-road material at Mt. Jackson is valuable and is much required by the several rail-roads. No transportation, I am informed by Mr. Rice the Superintendent of the Manassas Gap Rail Road, has thus far been supplied to remove it.
A military escort will doubtless be furnished by Colonel Funston, and I desire that the iron and material may be promptly secured, if the necessary transportation can be supplied, without interfering with other demands upon you. You will advise Mr. Rice as to the arrangements you may be able to make, in regard to this transportation.
A. C. Myers, Q. M. Genl.
