{This report was to keep the
Secretary of War informed of troop movements in the Richmond area to
protect the railroads and fend off Gen. Stoneman's cavalry raid. The
raid caused damage to the Virginia Central RR that caused it to
request Government assistance in repairing the road. The date is
derived from comparison of the text to the 16th NC Regt. history.} |
