{This report was to keep the Secretary of War informed of troop movements in the Richmond area to protect the railroads and fend off Gen. Stoneman's cavalry raid. The raid caused damage to the Virginia Central RR that caused it to request Government assistance in repairing the road. The date is derived from comparison of the text to the 16th NC Regt. history.}
