Sir, |
The necessity for great
economy in the use of corn, which is now to be obtained only by long
R. R. transportation, has compelled me to reduce the corn ration in
the Army of Northern Va. The allowance of corn at present is six
pounds to each animal employed in transportation service, eight pounds
to all others daily. Long forage (9) nine pounds hay or its
equivalent. In your future issues for the Army of Genl. Beauregard you
will conform to the allowance as stated. Please let me know what
ration you have issued up to this time & for about what number of
animals |
