I would be glad to know the earliest moment
at which I may hope to hear that the repairs on your road are
complete. The successful defense of this city & the provisioning
of Genl. Lee's Army are in a measure dependent on the opening of that
road. I am informed that all the iron that you need has been brought
up by the {Richmond &} York River
Road & is now in this city, & that every request for
assistance from the military authorities, made by your has been
complied with. Can anything further be done to aid you? |
