Supt Rich & Dan RR {Superintendent,
Richmond & Danville RR} |
|
Sir, |
I have received your communication of the
30th ultimo, reporting the present condition of the motive power upon
the Richmond & Danville Rail Road. |
In regard thereto, I have to say that the
Secretary of War will direct the "crank axle" belonging to
an engine at Raleigh, stated to be disabled, to be delivered to you
for the purpose of repairing the engine you refer to in your own
shops, if in the opinion of Colonel Wadley it can be spared. Colonel
Wadley is expected here immediately, and his decision on the subject
will not be delayed. |
In reference to the mechanical labor
required in your workshops, arrangements can be made to supply it to a
great extent. If, therefore, you will have made out a list of the
least number of men, required, giving names, companies, and regiments,
their detail will be ordered. |
