Sir, |
It is the desire of the War Department
that you give preference in all cases to Government stores, munitions &c
over private freight; and that you forward the same within twenty four
hours after delivery at your depot or wharf. When the supplies are to
pass beyond the terminus of your line, I desire that you will notify, by
telegram, whenever that can be done, otherwise by mail, the officers of
the connecting line, and the Quarter Master of the Post at your
terminus, as to the quantity of stores shipped and the time of their
arrival so that both may be prepared to forward them without delay. |
