In reply to your communication of the
15th February last, I have to inform you that, since December, Colonel
Wadley has been in charge of transportation. I therefore on the 20th of
February referred your letter to that officer, who returns it endorsed
under the date of April 6th, as follows: |
"I am aware of the difficulties mentioned in getting
coal, but can take no action, as it is foreign to my duties. It is
labor, and not transportation which is wanted." |
Such seems to be your own view, and the remedy seems to
exist in the exercise of proper exertions upon the part of the manager
of the coal mines in securing the necessary labor. |
