Sir, |
Mr. Ellis President of the Richmond &
Petersburg Rail Road Company has written to me complaining that, you
took possession, on the 9th instant, of three Box Cars, belonging to
his Company, loaded with ammunition, and sent them off South, in spite
of the remonstrance of the Company's Agent. |
I presume that you did so under an urgent
necessity, and have so informed him. It is desirable, however, to
avoid these transfers from one road to another when it can be done;
and you will do all in your power to return the Cars, at the earliest
practicable day, to the Richmond & Petersburg Road. |
