Sir, |
Major Thos. L. Brown, Quarter Master, has
procured from Captain Allen, A. G. S. at Columbus, Georgia, fifty
thousand bushels of corn, for Genl Sam. Jones' command. This corn is
on the South Western Rail Road of Georgia, and there is some
difficulty in transporting it as fast as it is needed. I request that
you afford Captain Allen such faculties as will secure the shipment of
ten thousand bushels monthly. |
General Jones' command is preparing for
active operations, and it is of the utmost importance to have it well
supplied with forage. |
